His classes (often synchronized with breath and music) focus on fun, alignment principles and present moment awareness. He enjoys offering variations on poses so students can move at their own pace and and modify as desired. Michael’s kind and gentle manner is well suited to leading students of all levels on and off the mat. He and his wonderful wife Amy co-founded award winning Yoga One in 2002. They have two amazing children. Michael also enjoys surfing, drumming, listening to music, traveling, writing and spending time with friends and family.

Missy, E-RYT 500, began practicing yoga in 1997 by following along to a VHS tape in her living room. As her body awareness improved and she noticed how calm she felt, she started to practice yoga consistently by taking classes at a local studio.

In 2010, Missy completed a 200-hour Teacher Training at UCSD and jumped into giving classes, eager to share her passion and knowledge with others. In 2012, she continued her education at Yoga One, completing another 200-hour Teacher Training. She recently became RYT 500 after completing Yoga One’s 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2019.

As a teacher, Missy is warm and friendly. She grounds students in an ongoing awareness of breath while guiding them through poses with clear directions, modelling, and hands-on adjustments. Gently spiritual in her approach, she provides a physical workout that students of all levels can easily modify. Jackie Liu (she/her)

March 31, 2021

Jackie’s relationship with yoga began in 2008 but it wasn’t firmly planted until 2018 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The practice of syncing breath with movement helped quiet her mind and soothe her body.

She completed a 200-hour teacher training at Yoga One in 2019 and wants to use yoga to create positive change and reach as many humans as possible. Her classes include elements of alignment-based flow with an emphasis on breathing and mindfulness. She aims to share a simple and playful approach while encouraging students to explore their own movement and breath.

Jackie believes everyone can practice yoga and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive space for all.

Paola started practicing yoga in 2015 with a friend and she was hooked! Continued formal classes later that year in Spain and she has never looked back. In 2018, now living in San Diego she walked into the Yoga One studio and it became her second home. Fast Forward to 2020, when she decided to take the next step and complete her 200 hr YTT at Yoga One. Since then she has been teaching a small group in Spanish via Zoom (2020, right?!).

Her teaching style is dynamic and interactive, inviting a lot of movement and breathing while motivating her students to explore and listen to their bodies.

Lauren Etter (she/her)

August 12, 2020

Lauren’s journey with movement began in the dance studio, where she spent her early years shaping not only her body, but also her sense of self. When she chose to step away from professional dance, she embarked on the challenging but rewarding process of rediscovering herself and learning to embrace her body anew.

From her very first yoga class, she knew the yoga studio and her yoga mat would be places for cultivating deeper self-awareness and acceptance. Her personal practice has continued to evolve ever since, opening countless pathways toward freedom, connection, and joy.

Lauren completed her initial teacher training in 2016. She has since come to see that her teaching and personal practice are deeply intertwined, each informing and enriching the other. Over time, she’s also recognized that yoga doesn’t end when she steps off the mat – it is a way of being in the world.

Lauren is grateful to share this practice, offering students a space to connect with themselves and with the world around them through physical, mental, and spiritual exploration.
