Reiki roughly translates to “universal life energy” which refers to the healing vibrations that exist all around us. As a Reiki practioner, one is “attuned” to these vibrations and able to channel them into the body of their patient, activating the healing properties that exist inside each one of us.
What to Expect During a Reiki session, from Laura…
At the beginning of our session, we will have a brief discussion about why you are seeking Reiki healing as you ease into the space and get comfortable laying down on the massage table. I am happy to answer any questions you have at this time. Reiki energy works through clothing so you will not need to remove anything you are wearing and can cover up with a blanket if you wish. Your comfort and relaxation are paramount to the session.
You may ask for special attention to any particular physical or emotional problem you wish to address, and I will also perform a body scan by hovering my hands over you to look for any energetic imbalances. Then, beginning with your head I will treat the entire body, sometimes with touch, sometimes just hovering my hands above your body, other times cupping the joints. The majority of the session will be done with you laying on your back, but you will turn over towards the end for treatment of the back, feet, aura, and optional chakra balancing.
Chakra balancing is performed with a crystal pendulum which reads the vibrational energy of your chakras. Should they be fully or partially closed, I will use Reiki to ensure that each of the seven chakras is open and spinning at the same frequency, making you feel more balanced, relaxed, open and grounded.
Many clients ask me what they should think about while receiving Reiki, and become concerned if their mind wanders. The only thing you need to be is open to receiving the healing energy, outside of that, feel free to ask questions during the session, speak up if a blanket or pillow would make you feel more comfortable, and think about whatever you wish. Just try to relax and enjoy the sustained attention on your physical and emotional health and well-being. Some people fall asleep, others receive images or messages, others just simply relax and enjoy.
Laura Hoeger, Reiki Practitioner
Laura discovered Reiki in 2013 through her Yin yoga practice with Reiki Master and yoga teacher Julie Quinn. Having no previous knowledge of Reiki, she allowed herself to be open to the possibility of receiving healing energy and was amazed and how much better she felt in the days that followed. She began regularly attending classes that blended yoga and Reiki and became increasingly more intrigued by the healing powers of a Reiki practitioners hands, whose power can be channeled without touch. She wanted to know more.
She received her first certification in Reiki in 2014 and has been practicing ever since. She continues to develop her Reiki practice, continuing her studies and certifications in 2015. As a certified yoga teacher, she enjoys blending her yoga teaching and Reiki together, allowing her private students to experience the subtle vibration of Reiki. She is thrilled to bring Reiki to Yoga One and provide healing and wellness to anyone who is open to receiving.
