New Student Information

Dear New Student:

We are committed to providing the highest quality instruction in a safe, welcoming, beautiful environment. Please always feel free to contact us with questions or concerns.

Following are some quick guidelines for those new to Yoga One:

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class and fill out a new student form, or print it here and bring it with you. Also be sure to let your instructor know of any special needs you may have.
  • Turn off cell phones and remove shoes at the door.
  • Free mats are available for use. We encourage regular students to use a personal mat (storage is available at the studio and new mats are available for purchase).
  • We are offering a new Introduction to Yoga workshop the first Sunday of every month beginning August 1st (by pre-registration only).  Click here for more information. This workshop is not required to begin classes at Yoga One, but it is a great way to start if you have never practiced before and/or if you have any injuries/special needs.
  • When choosing which classes to attend, please review the descriptions of levels and styles. Some recommendations for students brand new to yoga include:

  • Mondays - 7pm
  • Tuesday - 4:30pm, 7:30pm
  • Wednesdays - Noon, 7pm
  • Thursdays - 4:30pm
  • Fridays - Noon
  • Saturdays - 7:30am, 10:30am
  • Full Class Schedule

  • Once you have attended approximately 10 of these classes and/or you feel comfortable with the fundamentals of the sun salutations and basic poses, Mixed Level classes are also appropriate. Please remember to listen to your own body and breath as your guide.
  • If you are driving, please allow ample time for your first class to find parking.  Following are our suggestions which are quite easy once you know your way around:
    • There is free 2 hour parking on Cortez Hill, near 8th and Beech.  9 hour meters (which are green) are also available here for 50 cents per hour.
    • 2 hr. meters on 8th, 9th and B streets. (7th Ave. has two hour meters on the West side in front of the studio the other side is 1 hr. meters.)
    • Pre-paid meter cards are available at various locations near downtown: They are great and work like pre-paid calling cards for all meters in San Diego City.) Click here for more information.
    • Horton Plaza validates parking for 3 hours (no purchase required) and is approximately an 8-10 minute walk.
    • All meters and yellow commercial zones are free after 6pm weekdays and Sundays all day.

Thank you
and namaste,

All of us at Yoga One
