New Student Information

Greetings New Student:

We are committed to providing the highest quality instruction in a safe, welcoming environment. Please always feel free to contact us with questions or concerns.

Following are some quick guidelines for those new to Yoga One:

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class and fill out a new student form, or print it here and bring it with you. Also be sure to let your instructor know of any special needs you may have.
  • Turn off cell phones and remove shoes at the door.
  • Free mats are available for use. We encourage regular students to use a personal mat (storage is available at the studio and new mats are available for purchase online and at the studio).
  • According to Georg Feurstien, some of the benefits of yoga include: "improved flexibility, strength, resilience, endurance, cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency, immunity, sleep, balance, attention, memory, awareness, mood...regular practice also decreases anxiety, depression and aggression."  And this is only the beginning (:  Peace, contentedness, a sense of "oneness"....
  • When choosing which classes to attend, please review the descriptions of levels and styles. Some recommendations for students brand new to yoga include:

  • Mondays - 6am, 7pm
  • Tuesday - 6am, 4:30pm, 7:30pm
  • Wednesdays - Noon, 7pm
  • Thursdays - 6am, 4:30pm
  • Fridays - Noon
  • Saturdays - 9am, 12:30pm
  • Sundays - 10am
  • Full Class Schedule - Reservations are NOT required.  Feel free to drop in anytime!

  • Once you have attended approximately 10 of these classes and/or you feel comfortable with the fundamentals of the sun salutations and basic poses, Mixed Level classes are also appropriate. Please remember to listen to your own body and breath as your guide.
  • If you are driving, please allow ample time for your first class to find parking.  Following are our suggestions which are quite easy once you know your way around:
  • 2 hr. meters on 8th, 9th and B Streets. (7th Avenue has two hour meters on the West side in front of the studio ONLY - the other side is 1 hr. meters.)
  • Free 3 hour parking at Horton Plaza. Be sure to validate your ticket (no purchase required). Approximately an 8-10 minute walk.
  • Free 2 hour parking in the Cortez Hill area (near 8th and Beech). Also, 9 hour meters are available here. (Look for green colored meters - 50 cents per hour).
  • All meters and yellow commercial zones are free after 6pm weekdays and Sundays all day.
  • Lot on the corner of 11th & B Street $5 all day during the week / $3 for 2 hours.  $3 all day weekends and after 5pm weekdays. Cash and Credit Cards accepted.

We look forward to getting to know you! Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions at all - 619.294.7461.

Thank you and Namaste,
